Some of the achievements of our talented and proud Christ Churchites:
  • CCS band auditioned and was the only school band selected in the city of Mumbai to perform at a Tata Power function.

  • At the State Level Boxing competition, Aamir Khan won a silver medal. Owais Darvesh, Khwaja Shaikh and Mohammed Saad Mithaiwala won bronze medals.

  • At the MSSA Inter-School Boxing championship, CCS team won 1st Runners-up position, winning 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Uraz Khan won the ‘Best Losers’ Trophy.

  • At the National Level Tata Power Quiz Contest, ‘Energy Q – 2010’, our team of Joshua Almeida, Ashi Mehta and Asad Rawoot secured 1st Runners-up position. Over 600 schools participated in the competition.

  • At the Inter-School Fest, ‘Thought and Action’ organized by Queen Mary School, our Dance Contingent stood 3rd, while Raashi Raghunath won 1st prize in Elocution.

  • At an Inter-School Science Quiz organized by Nehru Science Centre, our team of Prithviraj Chavan, Priyank Sharma, Rebecca D’Souza and Hussain Contractor reached the semi-finals.

  • Our Scouts, Guides and Bulbuls won the over all championship at the Bharat Scouts and Guides District Athletic Meet.

  • At ‘We are the World’, the prestigious Inter-School Fest, organized by the Rotaract Club of HR College, CCS team emerged 1st Runner-up, amongst 23 participating schools. Raashi Raghunath, Zainul Lakha and Abbas Makda won 1st place in the Power-Point segment. Our Fashion Show contingent also won 1st place.
  • Little Sidh Surana (U-10 yrs) won 2nd place in Artistic Gymnastics and 3rd place in the All-round section. He qualified for the State Level competition.

  • Shubham Rathod won a silver medal in an Essay writing competition organized by Schoolsindia.

  • At a National Level Karate meet, Sana Ansari (Girls U-18) and Ayaan Ansari (Boys U-14) won gold medals in their respective categories. Umair Kazi with 3 gold and a silver was adjudged Best Student in Karate for 2010. Burges Ghodawala won a bronze medal.
  • Zenrookh Davar won Gold medals in Javelin and Discus at the Bombay City District Amateur Athletic meet. At the DSO meet she won Gold in Shot-put and Silver in Discus. She has been selected for the Zonal Meet. She won Gold in Javelin and now goes to Pune for the State Level Meet.
  • Abbas Ali Kanchwala won 3 Silver and 1 Gold medal at the District Swimming championship. He was also crowned Individual Champion in the U-13 years category. At the State Level Meet in Kolhapur he won a silver medal in 200 meters Freestyle, and has been selected for the Nationals.
  • Ashwapurwa Kumari and Shawn Coutinho created history, being the 1st Debating Team from CCS to reach the All India Finals of the prestigious Frank Anthony Inter School Debates, and finished in the top 7 of the country, at the finals held in Dehra Dun.
  • Nathania Fernades auditioned and is one of the few students selected from among 2500 students to play a part in Raell Padamsee’s mammoth production “The Sound of Music”. The play is being staged at the Tata NCPA, and stars Dalip Tahil.
  • Asmi Shah of Std. V A has qualified to participate in the international Level Oral Round of MAARS Spelling Bee competition, to be held in Malaysia. She is one among 100 students from all over India who have qualified.
  • At the Times NIE Inter School Quiz – South Mumbai our team comprising of Doorva Tripathi, Joshua Almeida and Prithviraj Chavan were crowned Champions. The competition involved 500 students from over 100 schools.
  • The school hosted the Annual Conference of the Association of Heads of Anglo-Indian Schools in India from 5th to 8th January 2011. It was a grand success, with most Principals and Council members saying this was one of the best Conferences ever held. Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mr. Salman Khurshid was the Chief Guest. Our top speakers included Dr. Indu Shahani, Sheriff of Mumbai and Prncipal H. R. College, Dr. Tushar Guha, and HSBC India Head, Mrs. Naina Lal Kidwai. I am glad to inform you that I have been appointed to the Managing Committee of AI ICSE/ISC Schools in India.
  • Besides all this we at CCS try to spread awareness on so many social causes. We celebrated the Communal Harmony week, World Aids Day, National Day for the Girl Child, International Women’s Day, Brotherhood through our Peace March on Clare Road on 26/11, Beach Cleaning exercise, Rose Day for Cancer victims and a host of others.


LITERARY

  • Anshul Kulhari secured 10th rank in Maharashtra State championship of MaRRS Maze of Words. Prithviraj Chavan secured 3rd rank in Maharashtra State Championship of MaRRS Maze of Words.

  • Rhythm Seth, Rahul Bhavnagarwala, Ruchika Shirsath, Arpan Samal, Asmi Shah, Diyaan Irani, Raunak Shirsath, Anshul Kulhari and Shardul Parab qualified in various categories for the Maharashtra State Orals and National Written exams, conducted by MaRRS International Spelling Bee competition – 2009-10.

  • Rhythm Seth 2A, Anshul Kulhari 7D, Rahul Bhavnagarwala, Arpan Kumar Samal and Asmi Shah have qualified for the MaRRS international spelling bee competition. They proceed to Kolkata for the International level written and National level orals. Rhythm Seth, 2D achieved a National Rank of 6.

  • CCS played host to the first Times NIE Editorial Interface in Mumbai. The panelists for this interactive students were Ms. Nikhat Kazmi, National Editor Times, Mrs. Indu Shahani, Sheriff of Mumbai and Principal HR College and Mr. Laurie. It was a success and widely covered in the press.

  • Kiara D’Souza, Std. III, reached the finals of the All for Kids Elocution- 2010, from amongst participants from 60 schools, comprising 7 zones.

  • Mrs. N. Samuel accompanied 4 students, Ashwapurwa Kumari, Rohan Icchhaporia, Shail Kushwaha & Pranjali Tripathi on an exchange programme to Belgium and Holland from the 7th to 22nd May, as part of EuMind.
